This project was for a course on micro-controllers part of my undergraduate degree
We (group of 3) were asked to design and program a simple circuit with any sensor that triggered an event.
We decided to go a little above and beyond and create a device that could be useful for home automation.
This project uses an MPU6050 gyro and accelerometer sensor to detect pre-decided gestures and relay this via an NRF Module to a companion board that controls LEDs.
We demonstrated gesture control for turning LEDs on and off and switching between four LEDs at a distance of about 10 feet using tilt and rotation gestures in different directions.
We saw this as a proof of concept for wearable devices that could potentially control various household devices such as lights, temperature, speaker volume, etc. Integration with ML would allow us to detect more complex gestures with greater accuracy, allowing more functions to be controlled.
